Global Project Engineer

My client is a worldwide resource and technology-based company that develops, produces and markets a broad range of specialty mineral, mineral-based and synthetic mineral products and related systems and services.
. We have a new, exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer to support their global business.
This newly added position requires a background in the chemical industry. On our journey towards a Lean Manufacturing environment, the Project Engineer will ensure integration of Operational Excellence into all aspects of responsibilities.
TARGET RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work within global project teams for Paper Precipitated Calcium Carbonate Division. Teams include process design, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning etc. for worldwide manufacturing plants.
• Responsible for: bid package preparation, equipment drawing and vendor coordination, detailed design management, and construction & commissioning field support.
• Travel to sites (domestic and international) for durations up to 2-3 weeks at a time.
• Forge and sustain internal relationships with other engineers, operations, supply chain, sales, & safety to ensure consistent communication
• Act as principal liaison to coordinate and expedite aspects of projects: contractor management, asset management, regulatory/agency requirements
• Apply a “Can do” attitude with an insatiable curiosity for a better way
• Ability to understand and coordinate the interrelationships between engineering disciplines
• Demonstrate an established working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software
• Drive engineering execution to meet agreed-to program milestones and budgets
• Demonstrate competency in key process unit operations & engineering disciplines such as heat exchange, pumping systems, conveying systems, screening, drive systems, HVAC, etc.
• Independently resolves design or construction problems through effective, efficient review systems.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
• 8-10 years Project Engineering experience in a batch process environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
• Customer focus driven.
• Organizational savvy & strong communication skills
• Ability to read & interpret engineering drawings including P&ID’s, structural steel, concrete, plumbing, HVAC and architectural drawings, single line diagrams, motor schematics, etc
• Strong sense of urgency – timeliness of delivery
• Intellectual horsepower
• Innate problem solving ability
• Ability to travel and work in varied climates
• Manual dexterity – Climb ladders & catwalks of various heights, confined space entry, etc.
• Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment a plus
• Ability to “jump in” and take ownership of projects with minimal supervision; resourceful
• Construction and contracts experience in all aspects of industrial design and construction including civil, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, etc.
